On September 1, 1897, Boston opened the first subway in the United States. This historic network of trains has served the people of Boston for over a century, and is in desperate need for an update and a branding system that sets it apart from the rest of the public transportation systems in the world. The branding for the T is based on the circle; the shape of a point on a map, a destination, a landing point.
The Boston subway system consists of 5 transportation lines: the Orange, Green, Blue, Red, and Silver Lines. Color is important in determining what train to catch, so the silver trains are covered in a circular-based pattern with the train’s corresponding color.
